Title: Oracle ERP Lead posted on 2014-04-07 10:41:06 Job Description: Job Desc: Senior Architect responsible for designing, developing, and implementing application infrastructure to provide highly-complex, reliable, and scalable applications and systems to meet the organization's objectives and requirements. Senior Data Architect for PLCB This position will expand upon previous product data cleansing. It will include planning; execution, and configuration of the Oracle Enterprise Data Quality Product Data Parsing and Standardization Module to expand upon cleansing the current data and providing on-going data cleansing. The PLCB is a multi-faceted agency responsible for the sale and control of beverage alcohol throughout the Commonwealth and is one of the largest purchasers of wine and spirits in the country. The PLCB will provide on-site space at the Northwest Office Building during PLCB working hours. For purposes of clarity, PLCB working hours are from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday inclusive. The Data Cleansing will assist the PLCB to provide customers and employees with more accurate and efficient access to information on the agency's beverage alcohol products. The PLCB seeks assistance in the form of a qualified, Oracle ERP experienced person who also has intricate knowledge of wine and spirits to assure execution that meets the strategic business objectives of the PLCB. Product "short" descriptions, SCC descriptions, multi-level relationship data and additional User Defined Attributes (UDA's) require data cleansing. The first round of efforts to cleanse the data in the Oracle ERP System is nearing completion. This included only Long descriptions and some UDAs for product data within the RMS module. By expanding the cleansing and updating additional data fields, the information will be even more useful to PLCB Supply Chain Analysts, Category Managers, Warehouse staff, data warehouse reports and external users. The PLCB needs to be able to manage its master data to ensure that all information is properly maintained within categories and made available for customers to find and purchase using their preferred search words on current web search technologies. In preparation, PLCB has implemented the Oracle Enterprise Data Quality Product Data Parsing and Standardization Module and is ready to expand upon its capabilities. The focus of this position is to improve PLCB product description data used by business managers and customers to make marketing, reporting and purchasing decisions by performing data cleansing. The selected vendor will define business rules, configure the Oracle Enterprise Data Quality Product Data Parsing and Standardization Module, cleanse the data, return the data to the Oracle ERP system, and Retail Data Warehouse (RDW) as well as amending the wine and spirits terminology. Once developed, consistent product descriptions should also be provided to the Warehouse Management System RIMS. Tasks. The tasks listed and described below comprise the anticipated high-level tasks to be performed. Position will be responsible for performance of the Tasks. A high degree of cooperation and a willingness to work with and involve the PLCB team members throughout the execution of the work is required. Task A: Planning -- Develop a Plan for the work. Task B: Analysis and Development -- Review the PLCB Product Item Master list, RDW data and SCC's to identify and profile common data errors. Identify data quality errors. Identify data quality needs across at least six (6) data quality aspects, including: accuracy, completeness, consistency, currency, format compliance, and uniqueness. Design business rules and reusable data cleansing processes to work with the Oracle Enterprise Data Quality Product Data Parsing and Standardization Module. And develop data cleansing rules, short description rules and validation test processes and procedures for on-going future cleansing. Task C: Execution -- Implementation, configuration, and execution of data cleansing procedures and routines established to cleanse the Oracle data. Export Oracle ERP data, use the cleansing system and return the data to the Oracle ERP. Develop data cleansing technical documentation and notes. Long description has 255 characters, short description has only 26 characters, establishing standards for shortening and consistency will be quite multifaceted and complex and requires a deep understanding of Oracle and Wine and Spirits. Once developed, consistent product descriptions should also be provided to the Warehouse Management System RIMS. Task D: Knowledge Transfer Plan -- Throughout the process, the vendor will assure that appointed PLCB developer(s) and users will be involved and will receive the knowledge transfer and documentation necessary to support and maintain the processes and routines in PDQ, as well as knowledge to modify, add, or delete rules and routines as needed. Skills. The skills listed below comprise the anticipated expertise necessary to carry out the work. Oracle ERP -- Knowledge of Oracle E-Business, Retail and Retail Data Warehouse Retail, Finance, Marketing and Supply Chain - knowledge of the functions necessary to run a $2 Billion/year wholesale and retail business Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: The Oracle PDQ system learns from the inputs it receives as well as the established business rules. Knowledge of Wine and Spirits Taxonomy Required: Examples below: 1. Identify business rules for validating item descriptive data and document item naming conventions, create rules and reference substitution lists - noting common data errors and exceptions: a. Gather data cleansing requirements. i. Examples: a) Varietal abbreviations: rslng = Riesling b) Translations: Toscana = Tuscany c) Resolution of Conflicting UDA's: Country - France, Item Type - Claret, Varietal - = exception, Sub-Appellation - Haut-Medoc b. Examples of Wine Naming Conventions: a) Germany order = Producer, Region, Town, Vineyard, Varietal, Quality, Vintage b) California order = Producer, Varietal, Appellation, Vineyard, Vintage ii.
