Position: Java Developer
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Duration: 6+ months
*Must be local to MN*
5+yrs Java,J2EE,SQL,Weblogic,XML,JSP, Any perl, Bioinformatics is a plus.
Any resource submitted for this contract to hire position must have the
following skills:
• Advanced programming skills in Java, Perl, and UNIX.
• Proven organizational, analytical, and creative problem
solving skills. Excellent written and oral communication. Ability to
prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, work independently and in a
team-based environment.
*Experience:*
• Four years technical work experience in a software development
environment which included two years experience performing software
development.
• Experience with enterprise programming and advanced n-tier
(server and client side) application architecture. Experience with
relational databases and object-relational mapping required.
• Experience in a research/analysis environment
*Key knowledge*:
• Both server-side and client-end software development,
application framework architecture, application servers, relational database
environments, and data-driven application methodologies.
• Oracle and Sybase relational databases and Oracle WebLogic
application server.
• Biology background useful.
*Key Skills:*
• Expert technical skills in J2EE, XML, Spring, JSP, Javascript,
JUnit, JAXB.
• GWT a plus
• Excellent written and oral communications skills required.
Ability to prioritize own work and the work of others, multi-task, and meet
deadlines.
Education:
• Bachelors degree in math, computer science, or a technical
field that required extensive computer programming as part of the degree
program. However, upon evaluation, equivalent related experience and/or
education may be substituted for the degree requirement.
*Job Accountabilities:*
Perform analysis and programming as required to satisfy Bioinformatics data
requirements:
? Works with clients to research requests and define user
requirements.
? Assists in the formulation of system scope, objectives, and
design.
? Assists in the formulation of development schedules for
assigned work.
? Prepares detailed specifications for program modifications
and development of new programs.
? Codes and tests program changes, enhancements, and new system
features as required.
? Maintains communication with customers to ensure systems meet
requirements.
? Prepares appropriate documentation for all program
modifications and new development.
? Provides services as required using bioinformatics analysis
tools.
? Provides timely and up-to-date status of assigned tasks and
identifies problem areas early.
*Project Leadership *
? Provides technical leadership to programming staff in the
effectiveness of software application development.
? Leads, directs, and works with team members, or independently
to resolve business and development issues.
? Implements, monitors and reports on individual timelines for
each project.
? Directs and maintains communications with users to ensure
that requirements are met during each phase of the development process.
? Performs Quality Assurance reviews of co-workers program code
and program/project outputs as assigned
? Prepares effective written and oral reports, and
presentations as requested
