Location: Manchester, New Hampshire Client: Swiss Re DURATION : LONG TERM SKILL CATEGORY:AS400 Position Summary: Plan, organize and control activities to provide data processing technical expertise in the solution of NAS system needs. Essential Responsibilities: • Analyze user requirements and data flows and translate it into a system design. • Prepare functional and detail system specifications. • Write programs to meet system specifications. • Validate / unit test code. • Assist with or develop test plans, test schedules and test data. • Secure appropriate approvals throughout the job life cycle. • Prepare user training, documentation and manuals as required. • Conduct user training as necessary. • Compile progress reports / status reports for management on job assignments. • Develop and maintain guidelines, standards and practices. • Develop and maintain quality assurance functions and requirements. • Be available for and handle ‘on-call’ duties as per department schedule. • Handle other related tasks as assigned. Requirements: Listed below are the basic criteria’s for successful completion of the positions essential functions. Relative educational background and job skills / experiences must be provided. • College degree in data processing field or extensive related training through technical schooling and /or extensive work experience. • Five to seven years of application programming experience – insurance environment is a plus. • Thorough knowledge of programming, including CL, utilities, languages, programming methodology and support systems within an AS/400 environment or similar software structure. • Excellent written and oral skills and the ability to estimate programming requirements, write proposals and implement revised standards and procedures. • Excellent interpersonal skill and ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet deadlines. • Minimum one year of AS/400 experience required, preferably in the COBOL language with thorough CL knowledge • Proficiency in PC skills such as Lotus Notes, Word, Excel and other applicable software. Physical Demands: • Normal office work environment requiring extensive utilization of computer applications for project analysis and development. • Ability to communicate via telephone. • Ability to handle on-call duties which could require being called during the evening hours.
