Description:
High-Level Job Description
The Senior Java Developer will lead a team responsible for developing,
coding, testing and implementing highly complex enterprise workforce
software solutions. They will serve in a team leadership

capacity offering technical advice to Java developers, planning and
developing solution approaches for implementing major, complex integrated
system projects. They will lead the definition of system

solutions and developing the specifications from which Java developers can
prepare the required programs. They will provide direction to entire
technical team and apply advanced skills and concepts to

oversee all key phases of a software development cycle. They will possess
excellent understanding of business application, and work with technical
staff to understand problems with software and resolve

them.

Key Technical skills required:
• 5+ years of related experience building n-tier web applications.
• Strong advocate of disciplined software development: configuration
management using issue tracking, estimation and Agile and Waterfall
methodologies.
• Experience with shared Java development on/offshore, Eclipse IDE
• Experience with Tomcat Application Servers
• Experience building XML APIs as well as REST-based APIs
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle or SQL Server
• Proven ability to build unit tests using JUnit and tracking code coverage.
• Knowledge of Ant build scripts will be required, with knowledge of
continuous integration and testing
• Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus – especially in the
areas of writing high-performance, scalable, reliable and maintainable code.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to
collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• XML
• Agile Practices (Scrum, CI, TDD, Simple Design)
• Unit Testing (JUnit)
• Functional Testing (JBehave, easyB, FitNesse…)
• Database Access (Hibernate/SQL)
• Build Tools (Maven)
• Performance Testing/Profiling (JMeter/YourKit)
• Job Schedulers (Tivoli)
• Experience in UML and Use Case authoring
• Demonstrates ability to work with vendors and internal & external
organization to define specific product roadmap(s)
• Experience with COTS implementation a plus
• Technical background and understanding; Requires understanding of n-tier
architectures
and the integration with disparate systems
• Airline or travel industry experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to excel in a highly matrixed environment
• Ability to lead and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to delegate work to subordinate or less experienced team members;
proven leadership ability
• Ability to mentor junior Team members
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies; experience a plus
• Working knowledge of HP Quality Center and Testing Methodologies and Best
Practices
