Job: Sr. Oracle DBA - Production Location: Washington, DC Duration: 6+ months *Essential Functions and Responsibilities of This Position**:* The primary role is a database administration (DBA) production support position. The candidate is expected to provide production support for the ADW environment. *Leadership and Accountability:* The position requires the candidate to take responsibility for the overall data architecture for the ADW business area, including the operational aspects of the database environment, performance, capacity and database utilization. The candidate is responsible for ensuring that the overall data and database architecture is functional and operational at all times. *Strategic Thinking/Problem Solving:* Shared Service database administrators must be able to accurately analyze the environments, provide tuning solutions, coordination of productions activities and routine database maintenance requirements. Additionally, the candidate is expected to solve complex technology challenges, such as integrating object-oriented applications and infrastructure with relational database technology. Maintaining a focus on the business problems being solved, and ability to link technology solutions to the business are essential. *Impact on Business; Relationship Management:* This position has significant business impact. The databases which support Accounting Data Warehouse must be well managed at all times to ensure a high quality of data for transaction processing, business decision and support. Additionally, a well maintained database is essential to the successful rapid development of products to meet demand and the successful rollout and support of products in production. These factors have a direct impact upon Fannie Mae’s business. *Decision Making:* This position involves a considerable amount of decision making to shape the direction of the database infrastructure. Careful thought and analysis are required to ensure effective operations of the database and its security, access, maintenance and capacity are optimized. The DBA must take into consideration all these elements when maintaining the physical database. May perform other duties as assigned *Minimum Position Requirements --- Education/Experience/Skills:* - A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent - Seven to ten years experience in information technology, with at least five years of in-depth experience as a relational database administrator. (Oracle-9i -11G) - Knowledge of internal business and Architecture and Infrastructure - Knowledge of the relational database engine to the internals level, and ability to apply this information in OLTP and DSS environments. Knowledge of networking concepts, object oriented technology, data warehousing. - Candidate must have experience with systems development and support of mission-critical databases.
