Senior SQL Database Administrator
The Senior SQL Database Administrator shall possess database
management systems experience, with experience in supporting SQL
databases. This individual shall have relevant experience in database
design and maintenance using SQL databases. Oracle experience is plus
but not required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
** Design, Develop & Maintain SQL and Oracle databases ** Writing
stored procedures, triggers, DTS, SSIS. ** Data migration, database
tuning, indexing, Data optimization ** Maintain Database securities
(controlling access permissions and privileges) ** Respond to
unscheduled customer requests ** Planning data flows, conceptual,
logical design for a new or revised database ** Refining the 'logical
design' so that it can be translated into a specific data model **
Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection
Act ** Writing database documentation, including data standards,
procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata') **
Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are
functioning correctly ** Capacity planning ** Working closely with IT
project managers, database programmers and web developers ** Providing
technical support for outdated 'legacy' systems ** Communicating
regularly with technical, applications, and operational staff, to
ensure the database integrity and security ** Commissioning and
installing new applications. ** Analyze business requirements **
Collaborate with other team member to convert, develop, web-enable,
test, integrate and document databases ** Train customer users as
necessary
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
** Associate's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work
experience ** 3-5 years experience in database administration **
Experience with SQL , Oracle Databases ** Ability to work effectively
as part of a functional and technical team ** Knowledge of System
Development Methodology life cycle process
