Teradata Data Warehouse DBA
Work comfortably with both technical and business users at all levels
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Provide leadership in the design, development, and implementation of
additional data sources and data elements into the existing Enterprise Data
Warehouse
Conduct Data Modeling sessions, make changes in cooperation with
physical DBA
Participate in or lead JAD Sessions with functional users and
customer IT personnel and other formal and informal discovery sessions to
identify additional data for the data warehouse and develop design
specifications for its inclusion in the database
Design/Develop logical (using CA Associates Erwin Data Modeler),
physical (Teradata) and semantic data models (Hummingbird BI, Business
Objects)
Participate in change control, problem management, and communication
among associated team members
Design, develop, test and implement programs, UNIX scripts and
processes to extract, transform, clean and load data from source systems
into the data warehouse
Develop, test and implement reports using Hummingbird BI, Business
Objects, Crystal Reports
Provide implementation recommendations, work plans, and estimated
hours and time frame estimates
Provide leadership to ensure a consistent, well-managed, and
integrated data warehouse infrastructure
Work in a team environment with other Bull Services team members and
the customer user and IT personnel
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
BS degree in MIS/Computer Science or equivalent experience is
required
Minimum 3 years work experience in information technology is required
Experience with design, development and support of data warehouses is
required
Experience with Teradata relational database is required (modeling,
initial build, performance tuning)
Strong SQL skills are required (Teradata)
Experience with ETL/ELT processes is required
Ability to interact with Business Users and other technical staff to
identify requirements and design processes is required.
Ability to provide thought leadership in design, development and
optimization, and recommend best practices
Experience with Teradata utilities such as Fast Load, MultiLoad,
BTEQ, OleLoad, OLE-DB and TPump is required
Experience designing a 3rd Normal Form data model and transforming
star-schema designs into 3NF is required.
Experience with Erwin data modeling or similar tool is required.
Experience with UNIX Script writing is preferred
Experience with technically leading a development/support team is
preferred
Experience with IBM's ETL tool set (Data Stage / Quality Stage) is
preferred
Experience with other relational database technologies such as
Oracle, is preferred; experience moving data from Oracle to Teradata is a
plus
Experience with Business Objects or Hummingbird BI and Crystal
Reports is preferred
Government System (Financial and audit) experience is a preferred
Experience with C or 2005 Visual Studio (.net) is a plus
Our Michigan-based team is looking for a skilled Teradata lead developer who
has done data modeling and utilized a UNIX environment to prepare data for
upload to the Teradata. Working within a team environment, this individual
must be a self starter and have the ability to extract data from many
different source environments and load it to the Enterprise Data Warehouse
(Teradata). This individual must be able to work with Business Users to
determine requirements, create detail system specifications, develop
customized software; unit and integration test the software and provide
documentation for all work.

5. Experience with (Ascential) IBM Information Server: DataStage, Quality
Stage, Fast Track, Information Analyzer and Business Glossary.
6. Experience operating in a production database environment, responding to
the schedule demands of daily operations and customer support.
7. Experience in data analysis and problem solving with large amounts of
data.
8. Significant experience with data quality, data profiling, metadata
management and reporting.
9. Foundation in relational database data modeling and systems analysis
skills.
