Duration: 9 month contract with likely extension THIS REQUIREMENT CLOSES VERY SOON Job Description: * Responsibilities will include developing proprietary software and technology to support our internal teams, external partners, and MessageOne customers. * Must be capable of designing and developing new functionality as well as consistently producing on-going scheduled maintenance releases. * Responsible for work effort estimation, implementation and on-time delivery of high quality software products. * Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to strong cross-functional product teams. * Collaborate with team leads and other developers to clarify and finalize requirements and produce specifications and documentation for general applications and infrastructure. This includes creation of middleware and internal api's. * Take functional and/or design specifications and transform them into high-quality, well-tested implementations * Work with other software developers to design and implement applications, using Java code, and enhancements as needed. * Maintain and enhance applications on an ongoing basis per user/ customer feedback. * Ensure that code is unit tested per quality assurance requirements. * Collaborate as necessary to define and implement test cases and suites. * Optimize performance and scalability as necessary to meet business and financial goals of application and environment. Essential Functions: * Five to ten years of Java development experience for proprietary technologies in a fast-paced environment * Strong Java skills and object oriented design experience, including working knowledge of core libraries, design patterns, JSP and Servlets. * Preferred experience with Tomcat, XML web services, session management, agile-style development, integrating with databases (preferably PostgreSQL/Oracle) and middle-tier application server architecture * Excellent object oriented software systems design skills and architectural skills. * Flexibility and willingness to pitch in where needed. This may mean on occasion helping with other functions (e.g. QA, Operations). * Prefer experience in high-transaction processing environment. * Excellent verbal and written communications skills and an interest in working in a collaborative team environment. * Demonstrated ability to deliver results, prioritize activities, and to manage time effectively. * Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or related field preferred.
