Job Profile: Applications Systems Engineer Location : Minneapolis, MN (Locals Only) Duration : 6+ months Start Date: ASAP Rate : $50 Max (no negotiation Job Description: The Recon and Accounting Systems (RAS) team is looking for a talented, motivated, and energetic senior System / Application Administrator (contractor to hire opportunity for eligible candidates). Responsibilities for the engineer include, but not limited to: Support RAS applications in projects and production support, particularly in areas of system / application administration and systems integration Identify, research, design, develop, and test solutions for various production problems Participate in the rotation of 24X7 pager support of the application and the deployment of new production builds Work with technical support counterparts (i.e., OS and hardware administrators, database administrators) to develop solutions and troubleshooting problems Perform data analysis to isolate opportunities for application enhancements Develop and maintain tools and programs for daily maintenance, reporting, data research Update and maintain system and procedural documentation May act as technical subject matter expert, and provide guidance to less experienced team members Minimum Qualifications: 4 year degree plus 7+ years information technology experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Proven skills / experience in systems integration (install, configure) of J2EE applications in a Unix / Linux environment, specifically on Websphere 6.x Application Server Proven skills / experience in Websphere administration and application deployment, using Deployment Manager and Clustering in Websphere 6.x on Linux / Unix platforms Proven skills / experience in application and systems monitoring, including performance and capacity monitoring / planning of Websphere 6.x Experience in Unix / Linux administration Strong skills in writing scripts (Unix shell, Perl, etc) to automate application processing and/or maintenance Development / support experience with systems using Oracle or DB2 databases Ability to proactively analyze, research, and resolve problems independently Strong writing skills to document production support procedures Preferred Skills: Java programming experience a plus Experience in using CA Autosys scheduling tool a plus Experience in supporting Connect:Direct NDM jobs / processes a plus Manager is searching for a Systems Administrator with Websphere, Unix, Linux experience. Also, this person will be responsible for performing configuration work in a cluster environment as well as deploying applications. Day-to-Day software support is also expected.
