Description:
Position may be extended up to 24 mos. and possibility of conversion to
direct employee.
Perform data analysis using the Threat Management platform, Security
Information Platform (SIM) tools and database queries.
Security data analyst will serve as a SME to Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff.
Responsibilities include the development and testing of security alarms
based on various data sources which feed the Security Information Management
platform. This includes the development of alarm logic within the SIM
platform as well as creating database queries to generate alarms.
Develop alarming strategy for new feeds to the Threat Management platform.
Develop tools (queries, reports, etc.) to simplify the analysis function and
support the work done by analysts, Situational Awareness Teams and Global
Response Teams.
Identify opportunities to improve alarming strategy for existing feeds.
Respond to requests from CSO management for ad-hoc analysis and assist with
analysis of cases created in the SIM platform - including interpretation of
events and identification of false positives
Skills required for this SR:
Hands on security experience
Interpret IP packet data
UNIX competency
Understanding of IP Protocols
Understanding of FWs, IDS,routers
Scripting or query language
Strong Analytical Skills
Experience with data mining

Description:
1. Perform highly technical/analytical application-level security
testing and risk analysis
2. Configure and employ various security testing software and apply
results to security analysis
3. Plan and coordinate security test projects, including managing
schedules and generating detailed documentation of test approach and
findings
4. Provide mitigation recommendations and track remediation efforts
5. Perform research on new threats against advanced/emerging IP
services, and new measures to counter the threats
6. Sound understanding of UNIX and windows environments (at system admin
level) and TCP/IP protocols
7. Ability to perform security auditing including scans (using AppScan,
nmap, etc.) and tests
8. Familiar with security and hacking tools, hands-on experiences in
security tool/technology evaluation
9. Ability to configure network services such as ssh, dns, nfs, dhcp
etc.
10. Basic programming skills (shell and Perl scripts) and be able to
implement small/medium scale programs
