Senior Oracle Database Administrator Job Description: The Senior Oracle Database Administrator designs, supports and administers relational databases. Evaluates and designs existing or proposed systems to structure and access databases. Analyzes database requirements of the user department, applications programming and operations. Codes database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system. Recommends solutions that require definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases and require data security and data backup/recovery specifications. Participate in the definition of data warehousing and decision support systems requirements. Uses advanced database administration concepts to solve very complex issues in broad applications. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems related field At least five years database experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve problems Broad knowledge of database administration concepts, practices and procedures Proven Oracle Database Administration experience installing, configuring and supporting large volume batch and transactional systems on Unix based systems, preferably AIX and Solaris. Practical experience managing multiple databases on large partitioned servers utilizing virtualization. Recent experience installing, configuring and managing Oracle 10g, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN and OEM in a Veritas clustered environment. Experience with SQL Server 2005 is a plus. Experience working in a team which delivers a highly available environments supporting large project development efforts 24 x 7, onshore and offshore is desired. Familiarity with SDLC, Data Modeling concepts and practices is required. Practical experience monitoring and tuning databases to provide a high availability service in a production environment. On call production support rotation is required.
