ASSOCIATE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Job Summary: Plans and coordinates the administration of computerized
databases to ensure accurate, appropriate, and effective use of data,
including database definition, structure, documentation, long-range
requirements, and operational guidelines. Performs quality control
audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper usage of data in
tables and various support tools. Reviews database design and
integration of systems, including client/server systems, mid-range
systems, etc., and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or
improvements. May establish and maintain security and integrity
controls. Provides appropriate consulting, interfacing, and standards
relating to database management. Monitors transaction activity and
utilization. Prepares and/or reviews activity, progress, and
performance reports. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform
in all of the basic database management skills of database
administration, web connectivity, physical structure, and overall
architecture and database analysis. The incumbent ?Works with data
architects and other development team members to determine, establish
and maintain database facilities suitable for the development of
application architectures; ?Designs storage strategies and management
of data; ?Designs and establishes standards for complex database
environments, physical structures, and specialized database
applications; ?Applies database management consulting skills; ?Gathers
client and user requirements regarding data usage; ?Determines and
designs data security and access strategies and processes; ?Determines
and designs change management strategies and processes; ?Collaborates
with system administration and operations staff on capacity planning
strategies and processes; ?Assists new application development teams
in determining complex database environments requirements; and. ?
Utilizes statistical/analytical skills to interpret results from data
warehouse environment in areas of data marts, enterprise reporting,
and data mining. The individual in this position will assist in
implementing database solutions for a Global Information Services
organization as well as perform core tasks such as fulfillment of
routine database system requests. Typical Duties Include: ?Maintain,
install, upgrade, and support SQL Server Database systems.

Qualifications: Relevant Education: Bachelors degree in Business
Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent degree or
an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant
Experience: ?Requires at least one year of database administration
experience working with DB2 on the AS/400 (DB2/400). ?Requires
detailed knowledge and demonstrable experience in techniques on the AS/
400 platform. ?Requires strong communications skills to effectively
provide and receive information relative to assigned projects. ?
Requires strong organization skills to handle changing priorities,
tight schedules, and correction of critical systems outside normal
working hours. Desired Skills: ?At least 1 year Windows experience
including Windows 2003 operating software ?Experience with DB2 or
Oracle Databases is a plus ?Preference will be given to candidates
that possess SQL Server certifications Equivalency Definition In lieu
of the education requirement, a combination of relevant education and
experience is accepted. The equivalent definition is 2 years of
relevant experience for each full year of education required.
