*Description:*
Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs
and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry
requirements. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems
considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and
form of desired results. Includes analysis of business and user needs,
documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system
requirement specifications. Guides and advises less experienced Business
Analysts. Highly skilled. Competent to work at the highest technical level
of most phases of systems analysis while considering the business
implications of the application of technology to the current and future
business environment.
*Skills Required:*
Data Systems Analyst Description A Data Systems Analyst is needed to assist
with a Client’s Sales Underwriting IT project. The Data Systems Analyst will
primarily be responsible for the data conversion from an existing Plan
Design application to a new Plan Design application as part of the Product
Book of Record project. This will require reviewing business requirements,
analyzing data from the existing application, and working with the
enterprise data architect to build and populate a new Client Product
repository. The Data Systems Analyst must also translate the business
requirements into technical use cases for the services team. In addition,
the data analyst will assist quality assurance efforts. The ideal candidate
will have a strong technical background, preferably with some development
experience. Understanding of database design concepts and terminology, and
ability to write SQL queries is required. Candidate should be proficient in
Access, and must have strong analytical skills. DB2 knowledge would be a
plus. They must also be thorough and detailed with documentation, but
efficient enough to meet aggressive deadlines. The candidate should feel
comfortable managing priorities and working with limited assistance to
complete assigned tasks on time. Previous HealthCare knowledge is preferred.
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, at
least four, typically six years of solid, diverse work experience in IT.
*Must Have: *
Must have experience designing large data conversions
Must be able to code complex sql against db2 and sql server databases
Must have worked on development projects (not just production support and
maintenance)
This person will be determining how data in the existing system (on db2
tables) will map to the new system (on sql server tables). They will be
working with an enterprise data architect who is already assigned to the
project and they will also be working with another less technical systems
analyst who is already on the project.
The candidate will probably have experience as either a DBA, data modeler or
a database developer so look for that in resumes. It is a technical SA
position not a BA role with some data modeling.
