The following client platforms and databases are supported at THD in a 
traditional, database, and clustered environment within a LAN and SAN: AIX, 
DB2, Exchange, HPUX, Informix, Linux, NAS - NDMP, Novell Netware, Oracle, SQL, 
Windows, zLinux, and zOS.

 

In general, the vendor will be supporting break/fix issues, proactively 
monitoring the environment, resolving known issues and supporting customer 
requests for TSM Server support.  In addition, they will receiving training on 
what comprises the THD TSM Server environment and the processes they will be 
expected to follow.  As part of this, they will need to document the info 
presented to them.  Lastly they will provide on-call support between the hours 
of 6 AM and 6 PM.  

 

To be successful in this role, vendor engineers will need to have a minimum of 
5 years TSM Server experience.  Experience with the TSM Client and/or other 
Tivoli products while helpful is not sufficient and resumes of proposed 
resource will need to be reviewed by Home Depot management prior to them 
beginning work.  Working knowledge of IBM Automated Tape Library hardware, 
basic SAN & disk array operational knowledge, Disaster/Recovery technologies 
and working knowledge of the client platforms and databases supported at THD is 
also a plus.  Note that Home Depot currently has both a physical tape 
environment and virtual tape environment so experience with virtual tape is a 
plus as well.

 

Scope of SOW

 

  a.. Proactively monitor and maintain the TSM Server environment.  This 
includes but is not limited to, performance monitoring, tuning, Break-Fix, and 
responding to monitoring/alerting. 
  b.. Suggest, plan and implement approved system tuning recommendations, where 
appropriate. 
  c.. Document backup storage policies, processes and current storage 
configuration after receiving training. 
  d.. Work alongside fellow TSM Server administrators and other departments 
(mid-tier engineering, operations, network, DBA, application support, etc.) to 
improve response time to customer requests (IDP requests) and speed mean time 
to resolution. 
  e.. Cover two shifts of on-call responsibilities during the business week; 
6:00am - 3:00pm ET and 9:00am - 6:00Pm ET and deliver backup/restore services 
to customers according to on-call expectations. 
  f.. Strictly adhere to THD best practices and processes - especially the 
change control process. 
  g.. Note:  Vendor resources will be supporting TSM Servers only and will not 
be expected to monitor, maintain, document or otherwise support the TSM clients 
outside of emergency on-call support. 
 

Resource Requirements 

 

  a.. Five (5) years IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) backup/restore Server 
administration experience 
  b.. IBM Automated Tape Library administration experience 
  c.. Experience in both physical and virtual tape environments. 
  d.. Scripting and automation skills a plus 
  e.. Database Administration skills a plus 
  f.. EMC, IBM or other disk array knowledge a plus 
  g.. Storage area networking knowledge (SAN - Cisco) 
  h.. Windows and UNIX server administration experience a plus
