Driving down incident rates and working with 1st line Operations to improve service recovery times. To ensure that all aspects of operability are delivered as part of the implementation process while ensuring that existing service levels are maintained or improved. Ensure full compliance to operational standards, procedures and best practice. This involves close liaison with various operational, project, development and product teams as well working within the Service Organization to ensure ongoing service and support can be maintained to agreed service levels. · Coordinate the introduction of modifications, engineering changes and new techniques to the production environment. · Interface with development regarding system design enhancements and the elimination of intermittent hardware/software problems. · Provide engineering assistance relative to design compatibility. Maintain/update diagnostics and work instructions for systems/subsystems. · Check and review drawings and specifications and standards. · Assure compatibility of components and operating characteristics of subsystems or multi-product configurations to ensure effective operation. · Recognizes design problems and errors and takes corrective action from a design perspective. · Specifies and evaluates environmental conditions that could impact product, system or subsystem design performance. · Endeavours to prove feasibility of design approach/configuration being investigated. · Introduction of modifications, engineering changes and new techniques. · Provides engineering assistance relative to design compatibility. · Functionally direct engineering technicians · Analyze, survey and propose solutions to requirements for systems or components of systems. · Be aware and ensure compliance with design, testing and documentation standards and practices which are applicable to the project/product and are current within the department. · Assure compatibility of components and operating characteristics of subsystems or multi-product configurations to ensure effective operation. · Reviews design for compliance to specifications. *JOB SPECIFICATIONS* *Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience*: TOP 4 Required Skills 1. Two to three years of experience with Solaris systems administration. 2. Familiar with Sun hardware platforms 3. Experience in Veritas Volume manager and clustering. 4.
