Description: 3 MONTH CONTRACT TO HIRE Job Description: The individual would be responsible for defining the technical strategy for the Data Warehouse projects. They will administrate multiple Analytical implementations, Performance Expert, Data Stage and DWE implementations running on AIX supporting in-house and third party applications. A primary job requirement is well-developed business process analytical skills, technical writing skills and excellent communication and team building skills. The candidate will work with IT Data Modelers, BI DBA's, Storage Administrators, Operating System Administrators, WebSphere Administrators, Network Administrators, and Security Analyst to support our evolving business intelligence endeavors. A strong working knowledge of AIX is required. A strong understanding of DWE or UDB DB2 is required, as well as Networking and Storage Management. The following includes tasks that may be assigned: a.. Define the technical strategy for the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence initiative that is in alignment with the corporate strategy. b.. Establish and maintain the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence architecture vision including technical infrastructure (hardware, software, and network) as well as supporting processes. Coordinating a team effort between the EDW/EBI Storage, Network, Security and Operating Systems teams. c.. Recommend technology and tools, and assist with the implementation of technology. d.. Establish and administer the architecture vision. e.. Assist hardware and software support specialist with environment capacity and capacity planning for the EDW/EBI environment. f.. Stay current on knowledge of products and tools relevant to the EDW/EBI environment. g.. Understand system design and element dependencies h.. Be knowledgeable of industry best practices for BI and be responsible for training others on best practices. i.. Consultative support for the EDW/EBI projects. j.. Play an integral role in the determination of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for data acquisition, queries, overall response time, etc. k.. Play an integral role in the design and development of the overall system Architecture l.. Coordinate, maintain and test disaster recovery scenarios for the software stack and database. Document disaster recovery plans and procedures. m.. Planning related to new technology n.. Will work with the EDS Manager and Standards Coordinator on establishing EDW standards o.. Will work with the EDS Manager on establishing data governance for the EDW Job requirements 5 years of IT experience Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills Technical Knowledge of InfoSphere EDW, UDB, Networking, Security, AIX and Storage Korn shell scripting Other skills required: a.. Keen attention to detail. b.. Excellent team building skills. Strong leadership, coordination, and mentoring skills. c.. Strong written and verbal communication skills. d.. Strong understanding of IT lifecycle management. e.. Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture (EA) processes, dynamics and value proposition. f.. Understanding of data modeling and relational databases, as well as the ability to think logically. g.. Posses the ability to work a project list as well as handle interruptions in a timely and effective manner. h.. Posses the ability to work well under pressure, grasp new ideas quickly and be able to thrive in a dynamic and diverse environment. i.. Be a highly motivated individual. j.. Knowledge of, or experience with Cognos, Oracle OBIEE, Load Runner, UDB, Intelligent Miner, ETL tools such as DataStage and other IBM DWE tools.
