Role profile – High Level

The Infrastructure Maintenance Engineers (CTB) supports the OPS WebSphere
infrastructure on a day-to-day basis.  The role reports into the head of
OCMS. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

§         Chat monitoring of requests from CTB

§         Management of requests from CTB and closure of Remedy tickets

§         Implementation of GRS requests

§         CTB issue escalation point

§         Implementation of WebSphere, TomCat and Apache build requests onto
MSO and OPS infrastructure within the development and test domains

§         Support of testing, knowledge of performance drivers within
WebSphere and TomCat

§         Knowledge of underlying infrastructure (Linux and Solaris)
Technical competencies

Successful team members have a strong operational service delivery focus to
the business, combined with a strong technical background. Unix/Linux skills
are essential as our core applications are running on Solaris and Linux
platforms.



Must be able to

§         Work closely with Line of Business development teams to assist
them with preparation for deployment to shared or dedicated infrastructures.

§         Manage daily problems within the development domain, ensuring
effective and timely resolution and communications to the customer.

§         Undertake application testing and quality assurance.

§         Liaising with the IMS Component Engineering (ICE) team for third
line, architectural support and escalation to vendors.

§         Advise clients on application architecture and procedures

§         Assist with production support activities related to applications
deployed.
Personal Competencies

We require:

§         A 3 year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent practical experience.

§         The capacity to quickly grasp an in-depth understanding of
application functionality, basic concepts and methodologies of systems.

§         Knowledge of IBM WebSphere Application Server (or J2EE related
products), Apache and Tomcat.

            Additional useful knowledge within the messaging world (MQ,
TibcoEMS)

            Additional useful knowledge with of Documentum

§         Knowledge of Clustering/Load balancing technologies.

§         Understanding of TCPIP, networking and database connectivity.

§         Knowledge of 3DNS, Firewalls, NetCool and Remedy would be
desirable

§         Knowledge of Java performance tools, such as Wily IntraScope,
JProbe etc would be advantageous

§         An aptitude for analytical thinking and logical problem solving is
essential.

§         Experience in a technical support role is essential.

§         Communication skills.

§         Understanding of change management procedures.

§         Ability to work autonomously, maintain professionalism and work
under tight deadlines.
