Responsibilities: The UNIX Administrator is responsible for installing new software releases and performing system upgrades. Will evaluate and install patches and resolve software and hardware related problems. Perform system backups and recovery and monitor system configurations and performance to ensure system integrity. Candidates must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within this field. Candidates must follow pre-established guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform the functions of the job, but must be able to work independently when needed. Requirements: BS/BA degree in Business, IT, MIS, Computer Science or related field 5-years experience supporting and administering Solaris & Linux systems is required. Must have demonstrated experience working with Debian, Redhat and Ubuntu Candidates must have a minimum of 4-years hands-on experience in PERL, Shell Scripting and Sun hardware and basic open source tools. Experience with Tripwire, Symantec Netbackup, Solaris Web Server, VMWare ESX, SAN technology, Unix/Microsoft integration and JBoss considered is strongly desired Candidates must be detail oriented and possess the ability to problem solve and work within a teamwork environment.
