Requires good understanding of business applications. Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and resolve them. Resolves customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. May assist in development of software user manuals. *Essential Job Functions* 1. Work with customers, project managers, analysts and developers to transform business requirements into technical solutions. 2. Follow software development process and create necessary artifacts and metrics to ensure process compliance. 3. Develop physical designs and models to meet business requirements. 4. Develop detailed specifications and code programs from specifications. 5. Create and execute detailed unit testing and assist in the development of test plans. 6. Create change control / installation packages and project documentation. *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities* 1. Ability to communicate with customers and other IS staff at a business and technical level both verbally and written. 2. Ability to quickly grasp new technologies and best practices, and recommend process improvements and utilization of technical capabilities. 3. Ability to identify and problem solve production outages. 4. Ability to respond to outage calls 24 hours a day including holidays and weekends. 5. Knowledge of software development process and ability to create required artifacts. 6. Knowledge of mainframe concepts and ability to identify mainframe system impacts. 7. *Knowledge of COBOL and OS JCL* 8. Previous experience in a Blues plan preferred. *Education, Training and Experience Required* 1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or MIS preferred or equivalent work experience. 2. 4+ years of IT experience with emphasis on mainframe development 3.
