Short Description: Senior Consultant is responsible for evaluating existing systems and/or new user needs to analyze, design, recommend, and implement information system changes. Complete Description: The Department of Health, Bureau of information technology seeks a skilled technical resource to assist the PA-National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (PA-NEDSS) team and the Bureau of Epidemiology HIV/AIDS Surveillance program in the implementation of the new eHARS (CDC’s HIV/AIDS reporting system) application. The intention is to use Informatica Powercenter 8 to extract and transform data to and from both the PA-NEDSS system and the eHARS system. Currently there is a similar process in place for the legacy HARS (being replaced with eHARS by 12/2009) application and PA-NEDSS using PL/SQL. The intention is to streamline this process using Informatica vs. PL/SQL in the PA-NEDSS application and to incorporate changes to the ETL process to conform to the new eHARS requirements. This short term engagement is funded through 12/31/2008 Activities include: - Working with both BIT (Herr St.) and HIV (Health and Welfare building) program staff to understand both the technical and business needs of the project. - Understanding the current technical processes taken place between PA-NEDSS and legacy HARS systems. - Understanding the new eHARS application and the PA-NEDSS data available and how an ETL process will be used to bridge the information between eHARS and PA-NEDSS - Build a solution by translating business requirements into robust, scalable, and supportable solution for PADOH that works well within the overall system - Defining and documenting ETL design and build specifications, procedures, and processes - Providing knowledge transfer to PADOH staff for the new process can be supported and maintained by state staff - Performing detailed source-system analysis, source-to-target data analysis, and transformation analysis. - Establishing validation and testing strategies for this process.
