                  we have an urgent requirement from our client and let me
find some profiles for the requirement.


Here you go….We currently have a 12 month contract in PA for a Senior
Unix/Linux Systems Engineer with a strong Veritas Clustering background.
You will be working on Level 3 support but you will also be responsible for
Project Planning / Management.  They use EMC products for storage.



Currently there exists a need for a Senior Unix/Linux Systems Engineer to
support the implementation of projects and the system administration of
UNIX/LINUX servers supporting both platforms.

Detailed responsibilities include a results-driven professional with strong
business and technical skills, superior team orientation and customer focus.
You are required to be an innovative thinker with a track record of success
in delivering value added solutions.  As Sr. Engineer IS – UNIX / LINUX,
responsibilities will include:



·                     System Administration: User access, security aspects
of users within all UNIX, LINUX servers, documentation of security changes;
hardware and shipping vendor management, server lease management, installing
new servers, data backup and recovery, support existing systems (i.e.
hardware, operating system, upgrading, patching, security, virus
protection). Maintain the underlying hardware and operating system platform
for critical corporate applications such as SAP, Oracle database systems,
data warehouse applications as well as other business-critical applications.



·                     System & Server Performance: Maintain targeted system
performance levels & standards. Check performance with monitoring tools and
monitors daily activities of all applicable UNIX, LINUX servers. Maintain
and maximize server availability according to service level agreements.



·                     Team: Provide updates on major server-based
initiatives, assist with training of Support Center staff, and assist IS
Operations and Support with authoring and maintaining IS procedures.
Participate in development and maintenance of disaster recovery procedures,
and, joint development of server and system related objectives.



·                     Planning: Provides planning estimates and forecasts to
ensure system availability. Track historical data and solicit input to
develop usage forecasts. Participate in application project planning process
to recommend solutions that will keep the corporate infrastructure ahead of
the technology curve and ensure effective estimation of effort for
server-related activities. Forecast usage for upcoming budget years and
properly requests the monies to acquire the technology necessary.



·                     Troubleshooting Issues: Provide timely response to
reported system issues. Develop workflow analysis ability to facilitate
problem determination and system integration. Troubleshoot servers,
communications, and network links to other systems. Provide second and third
level support for server/system related issues.



·                     Maintain current technology knowledge regarding
hardware configurations and operating system versions.



*SKILLS REQUIRED*

BA/BS Computer Sciences, Management Information Systems Computing systems
design and maintenance,

Five to eight (5-8) years practical IT experience, with focus in
architecting and implementing UNIX / LINUX and Storage hardware/software
solutions.  Project planning experience including systems implementation and
configuration skills. HP UX and/or LINUX Certification are preferred.
