Job Description
Supports 24x7 database environments, ensuring systems availability, backup
and recoverability, optimal performance, alerting and paging, security and
operational efficiency.
Performs software installation, database creation, configurations,
migrations and upgrades.
Performs archival, backup and recovery procedures. Improves recoverability
time by creating, maintaining and updating recovery/restore processes.
Backups mechanisms may include using exports, rman hot backups, and/or
customized automated scripts.
Performs database related projects which may include server upgrades,
expansions, security and/or production automation projects.
Keeps informed of latest industry news, trends, products, services,
competitors and relevant existing and emerging technologies. Communicates
any issues that may impact internal or client teams.
Plans, coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard information
in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or
disclosure.
Follows company specific procedures when making all changes in client
environment through tools such as CA Service Desk.
Responsible for Acxiom/client deliverables such as status reporting,
inventory counts, and time tracking.
Provides guidance to internal stakeholders and external clients on database
related questions.
Provides capacity planning/space management. Reorganizes as appropriate to
reclaim space.
Tests databases and performs the necessary modifications (including patches)
to remedy bugs.
Specifies users and user access levels, permissions and privileges for each
segment of database.
Makes recommendations on improving database management.
