Position : Database Administrator
Location : Boston, MA
Duration : 6+ Months


Administers and controls an organization's data resources and provides
documentation to management. This person has detailed knowledge of database
design and implementation, uses data software packages to ensure data
integrity, accuracy, accessibility, and security as well as recovers
corrupted data and eliminates data redundancy. Performs database tasks for
development/prod. projects, physical database design, 24x7 support,
maintenance set-up, validation, data modeling review and performance tuning
as needed. Maintains database dictionaries and integration of systems
through database design. Helps analyze user applications and operational
requirements. Responsible for overall physical database structure for
assigned databases. Reviews database performance statistics and directs
improvements. Maintains relationship with database management system
vendorand implements upgrades. Directs team in identification of the
information
requirements of business processes and the interface with relational
database designs. Having 3-6 years experience.
Responsibilities: • Hand-On high level of Proficiency in Oracle. •
Provide Oracle expertise to development teams. • Provides support on a
24x7 basis. • Responsible for performance tuning, backups, database
enhancements, installations and upgrades, technical initiatives. • Work
with on and offshore support teams to accomplish technical efforts in
support of the business needs. • Implements and reinforces corporate
database security and confidentiality policies. • Acts as a liaison with
business technology teams. • Practical experience in monitoring and tuning
a database to provide a high availability service. • Coordinate and work
with infrastructure teams for change control and deployment. • Provide
database backup and recovery. • Troubleshoot and resolve production
issues. • Plan, deploy and administer disaster recovery infrastructure.
• Work closely with infrastructure teams on capacity planning and tuning.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team matrix environment.
• General understanding of database monitoring tools and capacity
performance tools. • Self- motivated individual that is accountable for
delivering milestones on time. • Ability to create/maintain scripts or
tools to monitor and manage the Production environment Desired Skills: •
Excellent communication skills. • Excellent troubleshooting skills in
identifying and resolving production problems quickly in high availability
environments • Must have Proven Oracle Database Administration experience
with the following – UNIX, Oracle RAC, backup, recovery, database
clustering, Data Guard, and Oracle security. • Strong SQL and scripting
skills • Excellent troubleshooting skills in identifying and resolving
production problems quickly in high availability environments. • Ability
to work with business units to understand their challenges and translate to
appropriate technical solutions. • Familiarity of financial
industries’ informational
systems is a plus.
