Position : Application Developer - Autosys


Location:  1 Reston and 1 in Urbana




The project is slated to go 12-18 months. One position will be in Reston and
the other will be in Urbana .



*Overview

Support, monitor, and execute production operations for both the Autosys
platform on Unix and Windows, and the Mainframe environment using the CA7
scheduling and Endevor migration tools. Production processing is monitored
by the team on a 24x7 basis, requiring continuous support and customer
service. Accurate execution of requested services and expert knowledge of
production Autosys and mainframe environments is necessary to ensure that
all business requirements are met.

Key Job Functions and Duties

• Production Execution: Review requests and execute production
activitiesin accordance with Corporate
Change Management processes and standards. Continually monitor the request
queue, and communicate with both team members and the request submitters to
ensure timely execution of all approved requests.

Utilize the Autosys scheduling tool, the Mainframe Endevor package migration
system, and the CA7 scheduling tools to meet business needs for processing
during established schedules while following corporate standards.. Perform
first and second level troubleshooting for failed jobs/processes when issues
occur and resolve issues in a timely manner. Escalate to the
Engineeringteams if issue is not resolved in a reasonable time; Rerun
any failed
Production job to completion; Approve and perform regular and emergency
Endevor migrations; Coordinate with application support teams on an ongoing
basis. Ensure systems and applications are available according to SLA
agreements.
• Production Monitoring: Provide operations support for Autosys and
Mainframe production environments while performing the following tasks:
Monitor the Autosys environment paying close attention to latency issues;
monitor the Mainframe console, restart, force complete, and modify
processing priorities as appropriate to complete timely execution of jobs.
Closely monitor the mainframe tape backup system, and intervene when
necessary utilizing the console and other tools. Troubleshoot and analyze
job code when issues occur and resolve issues in a timely manner;
• Production Support: Assist application support teams and the platform
teams with start/stop of services, placing jobs on ice/hold, and communicate
with impacted parties during maintenance windows. Assist engineering/
platform teams as well as the application support teams during resolution of
ongoing issues relating to problems/changes as needed. Respond to pages,
email request, and phone calls according to documented guidelines; Review,
update or revise existing procedures as needed.
• Infrastructure Support: Check health of system hardware such as. tape
drives, virtual devices, instances and servers; Call third party vendor for
service when necessary; Work with tape librarians and the Backup team to
resolve issues. Provide support for planned outages by performing IPL or
shutdown and startup of systems, develop plans and follow task lists during
upgrades and infrastructure changes. Report all activities which could cause
a risk to the business to management as needed.
• Other duties: Conduct turnover at the beginning and end of each shift,
review all outstanding issues and assignments with incoming/outgoing shifts,
complete reports as appropriate. Review, process, update, and complete all
Remedy tickets in a timely manner. Complete process improvement projects as
assigned, and engage management and team mates in technical discussions
related to process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or the
equivalent of at least five years experience in the related fields.
• Technical certifications in the area of computer operations, or production
scheduling are welcomed.
• Minimum experience: Five years supporting production operations using Unix
commands, IBM Mainframe, CA7, and/or Autosys Software Job scheduling tools.
• Experience with ticketing and workflow tools such as Remedy.
• Must be able to comfortably work with multiple groups or teams (local or
remote) in a 24x7 shift setting.
• Must possess excellent customer support and service skills including:
answering phones, responding to pagers and managing email.
• Must be capable of efficiently running production operations for
multiple platforms, identifying most common errors and confirming overall
success of the environment. In addition, should have some knowledge of
the hardware
components that comprise Fannie Mae’s technology infrastructure.
• Must have the ability to run basic sorts and filters in activity monitor
to determine various statuses of systems.
• Must have the ability to monitor jobs using the command line .
• Must posses excellent troubleshooting skills, communication and writing
skills; and have the ability to use Microsoft products such as Outlook,
Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
• Must be able to work on various shifts, including night and weekend
shifts.
• Must be flexible with a work schedule that covers 24x7 onsite
operations.
• Must posses the ability to follow documented troubleshooting procedures
for most-common error codes and execute basic scripts
• Must be able to work remotely – this requires a reliable and viable
internet connection for remote access from home in case of emergency.
• Must be able to function well under pressure, and always maintain a
professional demeanor, even under stressful conditions.
Application Administrator is responsible for administering applications
(e.g. Siebel). The candidate should have experience in defining and
implementing workflow, providing scripts as needed, and customizing outputs
and reports.*
