Title : Business Analyst
Location : Boston, MA
Duration : 12 Months

Description :

·         Possess extensive working knowledge of the business/agency and
their applications

·         Subject Matter Expert (SME) for RMV core applications, in
particular ALARS mainframe, to include Registration, Licensing, Suspensions,
Citations and/or Cash Management

·         Identify Business rules, regulations and policy that encompass the
project requirements

·         Contribute to requirements/specifications by assisting with
project documentation authoring

·         Assist with and coordinate with business requirements discovery
and writing

·         Analyze business data and how the values relate to business
processes

·         Analyze and understand the application data model

·         Analyze and understand the information life cycle within the given
system

·         Identify gaps during the business requirements gathering phase

·         Work with project staff - including Business Analysts, Project
Managers, Development and QA staff to communicate functionality and resolve
issues

·         Work closely with the project team

·         Document business processes to help the project team understand
current business practices and how the proposed modifications will support
them

·         Facilitate discussions between business and the technical team
members to communicate the business needs, requirements and rules

·         Gather and documents the detailed business requirements in a
traceable, testable and verifiable format

·         Document business requirements and decisions in a way that is
clear, concise and does not leave room for different interpretations

·         Monitor issue and task tracking system and respond to the need for
additional information

·         Actively participate in project meetings to ensure the business
requirements are represented and addressed

·         Ensure that the business understands the documented requirements

·         Assist business in making the appropriate decisions for the system
enhancements

·         Assess business requests for impact on the existing business and
system processes

·         Follow up on questions and open issues raised by the business

·         Work with the business to refine and re-engineer business
processes where necessary for success of the technology solutions

·         Assist with time estimates to complete analysis, required project
documentation and other project-related tasks

1.       Use ad hoc query tools for analysis and research and to generate
reports for the business

2.       Help Quality Assurance (QA) team to define the best testing
strategy for the software enhancements

3.       Support QA and Business teams with QA and User Acceptance testing

4.       Successfully multi-tasks and performs assigned tasks on multiple
projects

5.       Working knowledge of the accepted software development cycle
methodology

6.       Working knowledge of the methodology used by the project to deliver
the requested product

7.       Work closely with the IT PMO manager to prioritize and coordinate
individual business analysis tasks and assess time sensitive constraints for
development

8.       Alert the IT PMO manager when Customer Support Requests may impact
any project currently in the development or deployment process

9.       Research best practices for business processes and suggests
improvement opportunities for the team

10.    Attend to other tasks as assigned by manager*/*supervisor



Education, Skills, and Competencies :

·         Demonstrates strong analytical skills balanced with effective written
and verbal communication skills

·         Interacts well with business users/technical team/project
managers/senior management/vendors

·         Demonstrates strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

·         Acts as a liaison between PMO/IT and business users.

·         Familiar with researching and documenting business rules as
applied to the system processes.

·         Strong working knowledge of MS Office Tools including VISIO (or
equivalent).

·         Demonstrates the ability to effectively multitask.

·         Knowledge of integrated business process modeling for operations
procedures, including process improvements and efficiencies.

·         History of successful business project involvement.

·         Is client-focused.

·         Working knowledge of SQL – preferred.

·         Experience with Oracle SQL Tools (or equivalent) – preferred.

·         Awareness of UML Modeling – preferred.
