*Position Summary:* This position is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing additions and extensions to a complex business software application, specifically the proprietary AFAS insurance administration application. *Essential Functions: * Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and installs functional units that enhance and tailor the AFAS application for specific insurance products. Works with clients and internal project leaders to interpret specifications provided to meet development assignment goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner. Responds to errors and urgent problems. Takes independent action to correct problems encountered. Maintains application design integrity. Maintains a client service approach. Maintains and promotes company values. *Additional Responsibilities:* Produce technical or procedural documentation as required. May participate in off-hours beeper support rotation. Performs other duties as may be assigned. *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * *Essential computer skills: *Ø Proficiency with Java, especially J2SE.
