Openings: 1 Position Type: Contract Location: Bridgeport, CT* ** *Description*: Purpose of the role - How it adds value Work directly with lead business analysts and project managers to deliver business intelligence to support project deliverables within standards and on-time. Provide database design and data modeling support as needed for specific project deliverables, and contribute to enhancements designed to increase usability and efficiencies. Develop application code for database objects both data sourcing (ETL) and information delivery (OLAP, business intelligence and reporting tools). Review business requirement and project initiation documents and convert to functional and/or technical specifications. Assist warehouse production support team with problem resolution and root cause identification, for any run-time issues which may negatively affect day-to-day operational stability of the data warehouse. Coordinate with other data warehouse team members, business teams and/or external data providers to resolve production support issues. Contribute to project plans and provide status updates or task estimates to project manager(s) leading warehouse development projects. Apply knowledge and experience of past development projects, as well as software development lifecycle(s), to assist project manager in anticipating and managing project issues and risks, particularly those in the technology domain. Take ownership of assigned project issues and coordinate through to resolution. Communicate proactively with project team members throughout the project lifecycle. Represent work to other development team members on approach and development best practices with SQL Server 2000 and/or 2005, or data modeling/warehouse architecture design concepts. Participate in code reviews and recommend enhancements, as needed, to achieve compliance with development standards. Use coding and application design practices which maximize reusability and smooth run-time operations in the production warehouse. This is a senior developer and requires significant expertise in both Œtechnical‚ and Œnon-technical‚ skills in order to perform effectively. Ability to multi-task across project development assignments, and production support issues is a key critical success factor. Leading by example, looking for continuous opportunities to improve processes and the ability to influence/coach others are also key requirements of this position.
