Hi,
we are using F720 in production with redo log's on local disc's. Performance
is good compared to local disc's . Stabililty and maintenance are great.
Backups through snapshots is a blast. Throughput depends on your network
and implementation of nfs stack, but we experienced better performance in
comparison to local disc's, local raid with lots of cach it fell a bit behind.
Working with autoraids I have always been suspicious about their ability to
decide on witch raid level is best.
If the F740 will outperform your autoraids surly depends on list of faktors.
So far we had no bugs nor downtime. NetApp send out a buglist
once a month or so and their tech archive is actually usefull. There
was no special tuning in oracle or on the filer nessesary, realy simple
to use.
