I think, your library path is not set correctly.

In sun
     export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
In HP
     export  SHLIB_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
IN AIX
     export LIBPATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
and then try again...
