Hi Roland, (DISCLAIMER - I have no interest in Pacemaker software, other than that Paul has a good product) I use an editor called CRiSP extensively - it is a GUI-based version of a character based editor called Brief (from Underware), that got bought by Borland (remember them ...). It runs under Windows, Unix, Linux It has lots and lots of features (including the ability to FTP a file from a UNIX server, allow you to edit it locally, and then FTP it back, if you really want to). But you could also edit the file directly on the server if you wanted to. It is also the only editor that I know that will allow you to highlight a COLUMN, and then do regular expression changes on the column. Unlimited Undo's, file compares, extensible etc. etc. Colouration of reserved words (including SQL) - very configurable -. Pricing is extremely good as well (GBP 150.00 for Win/Nt), and he is constantly working to improve it. You can also buy "locked" or Floating licenses. Works well with your favourite complier to become an IDE (allows you to compile from within the editor, picks up the output and displays the errors and highlights the offending lines) Go to www.pacemaker.co.uk and have a look - you can also download an evaluation copy there.
