I'm kind of in the same boat as Karen... except that I'm working as a
developer right now (not Oracle). My goal of becoming a DBA has taken a year and a half to complete the certification track. I know the effort it takes to get certified. Granted, there are a lot of things I leaned and knew when I took the test(s) that I'll have to look up when I do get on the job but I suspect that even the seasoned DBAs have to do that. Otherwise, why would this site be so popular?? I've seen many questions here that I could have answered, even though I haven't had hands on experience. Come guys, if you've got a job that you know all the answers for, then I don't think you're a DBA. One of the things that I like about technology is that there is always so much to learn, challanges to overcome. Hang in there, Karen. The hard work is going to pay off for you! |
