This is to the person who asked the question about putting time into GMT.

Here is a script that I got from one of the listers and modified.

select to_char(sysdate,'MMDDYY HH:MI:SS'), 
TO_CHAR(new_time(sysdate,'EDT','GMT'),'MMDDYY HH:MI:SS') from dual;
