9i new features schedule thru end of year

This is tentative as of course, work comes first and things might have to slip, but this is it for now.

If anyone has a burning desire to see something moved around in the schedule, send email to

for week ending:

10/27: Query Flashback(the concept is good, but then reality sets in)

11/3: Logminer new features(woohoo it supports DDL, migrated and chained rows)

11/10: Resumable transactions

11/17: New Datatypes <-- I'm in a red cross class this week for 3 evenings so this might be late in the week

11/24: External Tables, HUH?

12/1: Data Guard(used to be known as standby database), part 1

12/8: Data Guard part2

12/15: v$sql_plan <-- why this is a good one as compared to explain plan

12/22: Online schema changes (almost everything can be done online anymore, hint: there is a journal involved)

12/29: new sql functions/expressions and the "merge" command(insert record, oops already there, do update instead).
