I've not worked with an IBM P660 but do have worked in datawarehouse environments with raid5.
Raid5 will slow down your loads. The impact may be not too bad if you're in noarchivelog, using direct path inserts with nologging and loading on a monthly basis. -----Original Message----- Behalf Of Bellefeuille, Wayne S Sent: 9 novembre, 2001 17:35 To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L Anyone out there have any experience running an Oracle Data Warehouse on an IBM P660 (6M1) over a Shark/RAID-5/SAN environment? Work great? Any horror stories? Any gotchas? My concern in us potentially converting to this environment (from an AIX-SP/mirrored environment) has mostly to do with the RAID-5 aspect of the configuration, (especially for writes). But our loads are mostly during off-hours. Are there other things I should be concerned about? Any input would be appreciated!!!
