If using 8i, consider using file= and filesize= parameter to let exp split the file for you. This operation is supported by Oracle :) Here is an example: exp file=/u01/export/f1.dmp, /u02/export/f2.dmp, /u03/export/f3.dmp filesize=2000m <other options as required> Exp will create up to 3 files with max size of 2GB each. You have to make sure that you have specified enough number of files and there is enough space in the filesystem. It exp runs out of specified files, it will hang waiting for you to input the file name to continue exporting. But it will abort if no space is left in the FS.
And here is how to import from these files: imp file=/u01/export/f1.dmp, /u02/export/f2.dmp, /u03/export/f3.dmp <other options as required> The thing to remember is that the file= for imp must use the same sequence of file names used in the export. Else it will abort with imp-00047 error but will tell you what file goes first.
