I use them for transient collections , for example, the "table" and "cast" operators to pass 'chunks' of rows about in PL/SQL. Thus this is really just creating various types in the dictionary and referencing these in PL/SQL routines.
I'm not really a fan of using object-segments (for lack of a better terms), ie physical tables of objects et al, since if you dig under the covers, Oracle is just implementing the whole lot as relational tables anyway - in which case, I'd rather have the control. hth connor --- Cyril Thankappan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > Hi listers > > Can someone please tell me > 'under what circumstances' do people > 'actually' use the OBJECT option of the 8+ RDBMS? > > Thanks > > -- > Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: > http://www.orafaq.com > -- > Author: Cyril Thankappan > INET: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Fat City Network Services -- (858) 538-5051 FAX: > (858) 538-5051 > San Diego, California -- Public Internet > access / Mailing Lists > -------------------------------------------------------------------- > To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an > E-Mail message > to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note EXACT spelling of > 'ListGuru') and in > the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB > ORACLE-L > (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed > from).
