If You
use RMAN to backup, you MUST use RMAN to restore. Once it is restored to the
regular files, you may use Svrmgrl to recover if this is comfortable to you.
But, recovery thru RMAN is easy, just one/two additional commands. Svrmgrl
is not avaialble from Oracle 9 onwards!

Subject: rman questionOK, this may be dumb. I was under the impression that if you use rman to back up your database, you MUST use rman to restore and recover.
Is this not true? Is it possible to utilize rman for restore and sign in to sql*plus or svrmgrl to initiate the recovery?
Any comments are appreciated. THanks
