Just skip the default database.
If you really want it, just have the installer generate scripts then run the scripts manually. Taking the default install it installes all and begins to initialize the default database and gives the message ora-03113(End of file on communications channel) after about 90% installation. Have tried it from multiple machines with the same results. It worked fine for windows 2000.
