I am new to the world of partitioning. 816 on W2K. In a white paper on metalink "How to Implement Partitioning in Oracle Versions 8 and 8i " it states that "The RULE-based optimizer does not take the partitioning of tables and indexes into account." My question is - if your application is still rule based is there any value to partitioning? Some of the tables are over 30 million rows and 5G. If my understanding is correct I wouldn't see any performance improvement but would make maintenance simpler. -- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com -- Author: Shaw John-P55297 INET: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
