You have a point Brian, however backup and recovery is the heart of a dba's
job.  This skill is not something that is just taken from someone else's
scripts and that's good enough - it's something that each dba should have
intimate knowledge of in their specific environment.  I am not saying I know
it inside and out by any means, and that I won't be teaching anyone at my
employer (the other dba has scant knowledge of rman, and I authored the
scripts, I have to go over them with her).  However I took the initiative to
read the details in the manuals and test my scripts, and I know what I can
recover from and what my limits are given what I have to work with.

If the question was, "Where can I start learning about b&r, in addition to
the manuals" I think it would be better received.  And, voila!  There are
example scripts in the manuals.  Wow...
