David, I recall that there is a limit (42 characters?) on the name of the dictionary file. 2 ways round it. Create the file in the top level ie /export/dict.ora or create a symbolic link with a shorter name. I have a page on my web site which mentions this problem (www.hcresources.co.uk). Unfortunately I do not (yet) have internet access at my new site and cannot recall what exactly is on the page (I do recall it is not yet finished!!!!)
