We
take level 5 snapshots every 15 minutes and keep data for 7 days to a month
depending on the table. We rebuild indexes weekly with nologging. I wouldn't
bother with backing up this data. It may help to keep the SQL statements in
stats$sql_summary to identify bad SQL in monthly report spikes. The amount of
data retained depends on your needs, the thresholds you set, and the level
of snapshots taken. It took me a little while to automate it for a maintenance
free equilibrium.

Subject: Statspack IntervalsAll,I've just been rolling out statspack against all of our production DBs. What I am not sure about is how often I should take a snapshot ?I am planning on holding one months worth of data and then backing it up and then purging. How often do you guys take snapshots and does my history/purge plan sound reasonable.Regards and TIALee
