An interesting use of sequences might be to encrypt information. Properly sequenced sequences could be used to easily encode information that would be destroyed upon being read.

To be more accurate, a sequence does not even have to be used for a table. It is a construct to populate a variable (could be a table column, could be run time) with a number that is generated in a specific order (though it may contain gaps).
