Gurus,

Oracle Version: 8.0.4 (I know we are way behind)
OS: Windows NT (Service Pack 6)
Physical Memory: 1.5 GB
Virtual Memory: 1.5 GB

Once in every week, we get "TNS-12500 TNS:listener
failed to start a dedicated server process". When I
check listener process, it was running. When I check
number of sessions, it was always below number
processes (setup by init.ora file). Whenever we get
this error message, one out of fifteen sessions get
successful connection. When we check system resources,
we had enough free memory in the system. If we try to
stop listener process and restart again, it works for
a while (may be 30 Min.). We couldn't find any error
messages both in alert log file as well as OS event
log.

Only solution, we had right now is to reboot the NT
server in the middle of production time. Users are
getting frustrated whenever we reboot the server.

I think upgrading database to 8i or 9i would help our
problem. But, we are not in a position to do so.

I think there might be memory leakage which we could
not see from the OS Task Manager.

Did any one come across similar kind of problem. I
would appreciate if you could share your experience
with me.

Thanks,
Bob
