Beware, we had a corrupt block in an index. Big deal you say!? Every time the client used the index the database would crash! Not good. We now do exports, and dbverify. But they don't catch bad index blocks. We also learned to check the alertlog a couple of times a day.

If you find a corrupt block you can fix it using either a PL/SQL or PRO*C rountine that can be found on Metalink. Search for corrupt blocks.
