If you have java installed be aware that there are a lot of changes with 8.1.7. If you have problems with the upgrade you *cannot* simply run rmjvm.sql and initjvm.sql
There are two documents on removing and installing java which are must reads (I don't have the numbers handy, sorry). Allow a lot of time for the java upgrade. In the end I found it easier to remove java and do a fresh install (it helped that we weren't actually using it outside of development at the time). Good luck!
