Martin - Since I don't see any reply to your question (U.S. holiday), I would start with the Oracle National Language Support Guide. >From past postings on this list, I believe that you can export the data from your American (8-bit characters) language database and import it into your Chinese (16-bit characters) language database. Here is a link that offers some information. http://www.desy.de/asg/oracle/impexp/impexp.html I also see notes that suggest you can do this with a SQL*Net link. I believe in Oracle9i, you will be encouraged to migrate to one of the Unicode character sets.
