Stephen - I don't think that will work on Windows. I don't work on Windows, but I recall someone saying that Oracle locks the file while it is used.
Ruth - If you drop a table, I don't think a recovery will be automatically triggered. You'd probably need to do a TSPITR, and I'm not sure that was the question.
