I couldn't support you more Tim. -----Original Message----- Sent: Monday, March 31, 2003 6:54 PM To: Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L Oraperl?
I released DBD::Oracle 1.14 a few days ago. In the release notes I said: NOTE: OCI 7 and Oraperl will not be supported in future releases. I'm keen to rip out the old OCI7 API code to make it easier to add support for more OCI8 features. I've had no reaction to that yet so I can't gauge how much of a problem that might be for some people. I know Oracle are ceasing to support Oracle 7 but there are certainly some Oracle 7 installation in production in strange places/situations. And there may be some script/applications based on Oraperl but now talking to Oracle 8 or 9 servers. So I thought I'd ask here. At the end of the day I guess anyone using Oracle 7 in production with DBD::Oracle / Oraperl has to live with the bugs in Oracle 7 and whatever version of DBD::Oracle / Oraperl they're using. (At least they wouldn't need such a fat cheque book to get support from me if they really needed it :) And converting from Oraperl is a fairly mechanincal process.
