Hi!

The reason might be performance when rollback segments grow and shrink if
optimal is set. (Of course if your RB segments are tuned well enough, that
they won't ever grow or shrink, then DMT isn't an issue)

If you do the change in two passes as you described, which leave the same
names for RB segments, then no init.ora modification is needed, as long as
you have all the rollback segments in database which you have defined in
init.ora.
